How do you proceed with the search?

You go carefully through your partnership list and your project plans and try to assess your needs for expertise and resources and try to pre-assess which of your partners could potentially be an asset. You schedule a few informal meetings in which you discuss the current developments in your industry at a high level and try to detect whether their position and capacities can be beneficial for your product. You also mention informally that you are looking for some companies with specific expertise in the research and development area and have e-commerce experience in your industry or whether some organisations worth recommending comes to their mind. You slowly collect the list of potential partners to later make in-depth research of their capacities, references, portfolios, etc.

I send information regarding my project plans together with information on my competitors moves and how his new product can change the market situation and ask the partners if they wish to be a part of the solution. If yes, send me specific information on how they could contribute to the project. Independently from their interest we also will request them to forward the info and cooperation offer to their partners in the network that they consider worth recommending. We need to create a portfolio of possible partners to be able to grab the one worth engaging!

You go to the local research centre with a good patent portfolio in the coffee industry to help you with the process. They have broad experience with developing prototypes, after all, they are the main patent applicant in the region!
